Are You an Alpha Male?

The Alpha Male usually gets the girl right? Ever wondered why that is and how you can become one yourself if that is even possible?

The Alpha concept is drawn form studies in biology. When male animals live in packs, like wolves or wild dogs, they compete to be the leader of the pack.

The leader is the strongest, healthiest, smartest, fastest, and most aggressive of the pack. The pack is controlled either through respect or fear and the alpha, because of his dominant position, is the animal that gets the best of everything. The best females, the best food, the best territory.

And the alpha male usually looks the part. His dominance is in the way he stands and moves, self confidence literally oozes out of every pore. The question is not why the pack (both male and female) follow his lead, but why wouldn't they. He expects to get what he wants with little or no challenge. By comparision, he will look better than the rest of the males, without even trying he appears cleaner, neater, healthier, smarter, stronger.

Does this mean that the alpha is a he man?

Does he treat women like sh*t, take dumb risks to prove himself to the crowd and fight every other male in sight?

The answer is no!

An alpha does not need to take dumb risks or fight to gain approval. He just expects to receive it without having to prove anything. He is also more likely to treat women with respect, having an admiring mate or mates is a central part of being an alpha. It is far more likely that the men you see jocking for position in the pack in bars or at sports events are betas - betas trying to improve their position in the heirarchy of the group.

The alpha will be the one who encourages the others while controlling the outcome with minimal effort. All of the other males in the group respect him and are prepared to follow his lead. If any of them stray from what the alpha deems to be acceptable behaviour or oversteps the mark, it only takes a look or a single word from the alpha and they will bow to his wishes!

So What if You are Not Naturally an Alpha?

Not every man is a natural alpha male (obviously) but there are some things you can do to improve your position in the pack. You could try faking it and presenting yourself as an alpha male but be warned, not all men who try this can do this successfully! Much of what makes a man and alpha is very subtle or intuitive and not easily replicated.

Another way is to improve your standing as a beta male, align yourself with a successful alpha male - join a successful pack and your own opportunities with women may improve. Or you could work on improving what you have, body, posture, self-confidence, general knowledge etc or developing greater self-awareness.
